TRANSMISSION MODE:
Thereby the S1+ works incredibly easily and intuitively! It is turned on by the side safety switch. A standardized self-test runs automatically. All 3 antennas are checked for transmission and receiving functions, as well as for the battery status and the sensor. Then the device immediately switches to transmission mode. During the transmission mode, the transmitter is also constantly monitored and issues immediate notification when there is a malfunction.

SMART ANTENNA TECHNOLOGY::
In the worst case of a burial, how well and quickly you will be found by your companions depends on your location in the avalanche. This is called a coupling position. An axial coupling position is optimal – when your transmitter has the longest range. A vertical position is bad, since the range collapses by about 52%. In this situation, the S1+ uses the patented SMART ANTENNA TECHNOLOGY. It analyzes the position of the antennas and automatically switches to the best transmitting antenna. The result: you get 43% more range than with all other devices on the market (with the exception of 3+), entirely independent of the search device of your companion!

SEARCH MODE:
An avalanche is an absolute stress situation, in which holding your nerves and focused action are what that pays off. To make the search situation as simple as possible, the S1+ need only be flipped open in order to enter the locating mode. Neither keys nor buttons need to be pressed – simple snap open is enough and the digital device scans the avalanche cone automatically.

The large, illuminated 360° real-time display gives you detailed instructions on what you have to do. First, you will get the prompt to go in a meandering manner around the avalanche cone, until you receive an initial signal. The search strip width amounts to 50 m for the S1+. You will receive an initial signal even at a distance of 55 m to the victim.

The relative position of the victim is immediately indicated in the display. Bearing lines, direction arrow and distance information lead you along the fastest route to the strongest transmission signal. From a distance of 4 meters, you are supported in the detection by a patented circular and trend indicator as well as the intuitive search acoustics. Once you've found the shortest distance to the victim, you can mark it. The victim appears in the display as located and you can (in the case of a multiple burial) continue with the search. The relative positions of up to 4 buried victims are directly shown in the display; for more than 4 victims a 4+ symbol will appear.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES:
The S1+ has a long bar of special features that make the device unique. It works extremely precisely already in the partner/group test. Tested are: transmission frequency, pulse duration and transmission period. The S1+ scores points in the professional field too: it has a professional mode for mass burials that make searching more efficient. Additionally, the display of the relative position of the buried victims enables a coordinated search, because the next signal need not necessarily be addressed. Another special mode for deep burials helps professionals, like all others, to easily locate the deeply buried victims. Even in case of a follow-up avalanche, you are on the safe side with the S1+. If the device doesn't move for 60 or 120 seconds, it automatically switches back to transmission mode. In addition, the device has a slope inclinometer and numerous setup functions: contrast of the display, volume control, as well as a personalization feature with which you can name your device.

HOUSING AND ACCESSORIES:
With 230 grams with battery and bag and a size of 120 x 60 x 30 mm, the S1+ is on the lightweight side of the avalanche transceiver market. The housing is covered with a protective, high quality rubber coating and the gripping areas are provided with a soft touch topping. The device is delivered with a comfortable carrying system including a flexible device link-up. A wrist loop also protects it from loss.

AND THE ENVIRONMENT?:
The S1+ operates with only 2 AAA batteries and consumes significantly less power than other transceivers. This helps us keep the number of batteries at the minimum, thus protecting the environment.
